With a bit of forward thinking and the blessings of Richard & Penny Solis, Cabin 10 constructed The Donkey Shack prior to the New Folk ~ Old Folk Music Festival (NFOF) this year. Being well received by both festivarians and donkeys alike, we plan to continue using it as our campground venue, home of the Jimmie Bell Whipple stage.

With the continued desire to support the Kerrville Folk Festival’s Grassy Hill New Folk Tour in the fall and the unavailability of Fischer Hall, The Donkey Shack will serve as a band aid (no pun intended), facilitating “Live at The Donkey Shack 2024”.

Along with the New Folk winners, we’ll also feature a stellar cast of singer/songwriters that we love, including Wes Collins, Tim Grimm, Matt Harlan, Robbie Hecht, and Grace Pettis.

Show up on Friday afternoon (17th) (gates open at 2pm) to check-in and set up camp. Then enjoy the show - Live at The Donkey Shack -  starting at 5:30 with Matt Harlan, followed by Tim Grimm with Sergio Webb. Afterwards, settle in for a night of song circles and campfire jamming. Whether a participant or listener, inspiring tunes and a good time is all but guaranteed.

Saturday, roll out and enjoy breakfast at your campsite. Then head over to the Donkey Shack for a full day of great music starting at 1pm with the 2024 Grassy Hill New Folk (Rachel Sumner;  Lucy Clearwater; Lila Blue; Robin Bienemann; Lily Talmers and Sean Keel). 

We’ll break for dinner at 5, then head back to the Shack @ 5:45 for Wes Collins along with Scott Dameron, followed by Grace Pettis & Robbie Hecht. Afterwards, it’s another night of song circles and campfire jams.

Sunday morning, enjoy a chill song circle. We’ll swing the gates closed at 4pm, sending everyone home with a head full of musical memories, a full heart and hopefully new friends to add to the current company.

The festival is BYOE - bring your own everything.  Chair, food, water, drink, etc. We will not have any vendors present for this event. 

We hope to have a spring event at the Donkey Shack and then New Folk Old Folk will move back to Fischer Hall in November 2025.
